What's happening in the Learning to Learn in Schools project?

As the Learning to Learn in Schools project's Phase 4 Year 1 comes to an end, the Campaign for Learning would like to thank everyone involved in the project for their continuing hard work and dedication. The project's success depends on the participation of teachers and schools; their attendance at the residentials and completion of case studies are the foundation of the yearly reports.

Case Studies

Phase Four, Year One case studies have been completed and are now available to view on the Campaign's website. From Lavender's study of gender grouping in maths, to Liskeard's of student choice in planning and assessment, the case studies, as ever, cover a range of fascinating topics. Commonalities across the studies include a preference for responsibility as a 5R trait to focus on - particularly interesting in view of its recent inclusion in the 5Rs list. Click here to view the case studies.

Residential

This year's residential took place at the end of January 2009 and, for the first time, included teachers and managers from Learning to Learn in FE's participating Colleges. Enabling collaboration and communication between the two strands of Learning to Learn will hopefully benefit both, via the sharing of ideas and experiences. Click here to learn more about Learning to Learn in FE. At the residential project teachers presented their case studies to each other. In previous years secondary school teachers have taken and developed ideas they heard about from reception teachers and vice versa, so the even wider age range this year offered everyone plenty of food for thought! Aside from the Newcastle University research team the teachers also heard from Advisory Broad members Professor Viv Baumfield, University of Glasgow, and Dr Dave Peddar, University of Cambridge.

Report

The Phase Four Year One report will be available in March of this year.
