Linking University and School through Research
Examining the way in which educational research can be connected to school improvement, curriculum innovation, self evaluation and professional development
22 March 2007, 9.30am - 4pm
St James' Football Ground, Newcastle upon Tyne

Recent shifts in the National Strategies recognise the need for schools to take ownership of their improvement processes. Schools need to build their own internal capacity, listen to pupils' voice to help develop personalised learning, collect and analyse their own data about teaching and learning for self-evaluation, motivate and retain staff, make workforce remodelling work positively and develop pupils as creative and autonomous yet social learners. Developing a research-informed school culture is a powerful way of threading this together. This conference will not only provide valuable concrete guidance and provide an overview of how research can underpin so many important agendas.

Delegates will also have the opportunity to:

  • hear from teacher, student and university researchers in a choice of 14 workshop sessions;
  • discuss with a panel of policy makers and educationalists;
  • find out about existing research projects in this field;
  • gather information on classroom methods and new innovations in the field; and
  • visit a selection of stalls from educational publishers to educational charities.
