Welcome to the Learning at Work Day website
National Learning at Work Day, the biggest annual celebration of workplace learning, will take place on Thursday 14 May 2009. It is run by the Campaign for Learning as part of Adult Learners Week (11-15 May).
We work in a constantly changing world in terms of legislation, the environment, technological advances, social trends and economic situations. It is essential that organisations and individuals are aware of these changes and able to adapt accordingly to allow their workplaces to remain sustainable. Find out more about Learning at Work Day using the links below.
The theme of Learning at Work Day 2008 was ‘Sustainable Workplaces’ and was subdivided further into areas that Learning at Work Day organisers could use when organising an event:
- Environment – which focuses on our surroundings in terms of carbon footprint, health & safety, community, global sustainability and growth.
- Work/life balance – which focuses on maintaining the wellbeing of individuals in terms of health, flexible working, timekeeping, stress, working from home.
- Learning through life – which focuses on skills requirements of organisations and the need for continual learning such as Skills for Life needs (numeracy and literacy), soft skills, learning influencers (peer, line manager, ULRs, coaching, mentoring).
