What is Learning at Work (LAW) Day?
Learning at Work (LAW) Day is an annual awareness campaign organised by the Campaign for Learning (CfL) promoting and supporting workplace learning events across the country. It encourages people in public, private and voluntary organisations to offer learning to all employees especially to those that may not participate in current learning opportunities.

When is it?
LAW Day takes place on 19 May 2011 as part of Adult Learners Week

Why take part?
LAW Day is the perfect platform for promoting and stimulating workplace learning and skills. LAW Day events are a non-threatening way of encouraging individuals reluctant or resistant to learning into exploring 'what's on offer'. They can help overcome any barriers or negative perceptions employees might have about learning and get people excited about their own development. LAW Day is also a great way to celebrate the learning and development that takes place in organisations all year round and can incorporate award ceremonies and recognition for learners' achievements.

Who can take part?
Any company or organisation that works with workplaces. Thousands of organisations take part from WHSmith to Prudential to Royal United Hospital Bath.

What can the Campaign for Learning offer?
The LAW Day team provides advice and guidance on organising your event, as well as free PR support, online and printed resources, all under the umbrella of a national campaign. This year we will be focussing on the theme Future Matters!. Over the next few weeks we’ll be uploading activity ideas linked to the theme from inter-departmental challenges to job swaps.

How much will it cost?
It’s free to register and access our online resources. Last year we also partnered with organisations that went into workplaces and offered free sessions -from language lessons in London to life saving skills in Sheffield. Most organisers spend an average of £100 to organise their activities.
