Family Learning Consultancy

Working with families to raise achievement

At the Campaign for Learning we are proud of the extensive contribution we have made to the family learning practice.

Examples of workshops we can offer for your organisation include:

Family learning for beginners

Suitable for: Organisations and individuals wishing to implement and deliver family learning in their setting including schools and school clusters, community and cultural organisations and local authorities.

About the workshop:Family Learning approaches build confidence in learning and are proven to engage with hard to reach groups, building valuable partnerships and raising an organisation's profile. Many organisations from libraries to museums and schools to community groups are already benefitting from running family learning programmes and activities, but if you’re not sure where to start you might not be able to make the most out of this valuable approach. This workshop is ideal if your organisationwants to connect with new audiences and build up your services but needs an intensive introduction or refresher to getstarted successfully.

What the workshop covers: The fundamentals of family learning from policy to practice; the essential steps to planning, delivering, promoting and evaluating your family learning programme; and where to find resources for your audience.

Practical strategies for raising achievement in schools:Implementing digital enrichment courses for dads and children

Suitable for:Primary and Secondary Schools and school clusters, local authority school improvement services and partners.

About this workshop: Supporting fathers to get involved in their children's learning leads to a wide range of benefits. The approach covered by this practical workshop has been proven to raise educational achievement in children as it involves embedding learning to learn principles in a context of animation and new media and technology which respond directly to families' needs, ideas and interests.

What the workshop covers: Participants on this workshop will gain practical knowledge in how to set up and run a course for fathers and children that involves the development of innovative learning activities using animation and cartoon software; recruit fathers onto the course; and evaluate the impact of the course on children's achievement.
