What is the Family Learning Festival?
The Family Learning Festival (FLF) is an awareness campaign which aims to highlight the importance that families can have in supporting each other's learning. This year it will take place throughout October. It began as a day in 1998 and has evolved into a 9 day celebration of learning as Family Learning Week with an estimated 300,000 family members joining in the fun. This year, Family Learning Week is to become the Family Learning Festival, which will be even bigger, and reach more people, than in previous years. Organised by the Campaign for Learning, it supports organisations to deliver Family Learning events across the country. FLF is the only campaign promoting Family Learning, and provides grassroots support, expert advice, free PR, online and printed resources to event organisers and families under the umbrella of a national campaign.
The Family Learning Festival is shaped by the organisation holding the event and can be tailored to the needs of your target audience whether this is improving their health by organising a family fitness event or numeracy by organising a session on budgeting.
The Campaign for Learning can offer support - including ideas, promotional materials and regional assistance - to make it happen. A key element of FLF is clear signposting to further learning opportunities that will help achieve organisational, and individual, learning goals. FLF can also be used to promote existing programmes offered in your organisation that your audience may not be aware or taking advantage of.
