Big Picture Party
If you are a library the Campaign for Learning are inviting you to take part in the Big Picture Party as part of the Family Learning Festival. The Big Picture Party is a month-long extravaganza initiated by Booktrust, the Campaign for Drawing and the Campaign for Learning to celebrate picture books and encourage family learning through drawing. The Big Picture Party is all about putting picture books and illustrators in the public eye during October. By holding a Big Picture Party event for families in your library you could:
- attract new families to your library using a creative approach
- highlight the wealth of resources and services you offer
-
increase your membership amongst family members
-
gain media attention
-
strengthen links with your local community
-
tie into national objectives such as Framework for the Future and Public Library Impact Measures
-
promote it as a National Year of Reading event
Your library could also win an illustrator to come along to your event. All you need to do is tell us what you will be doing that ties in with the Big Picture Party on the Family Learning Festival event registration, by the 5 September. We will pick the three most inspiring ideas to recive an illustrator to add an extra sparkle at their events.
The Big Picture Party is part of the creativity theme of Family Learning Festival. There are lots of other themes you can use for your Family Learning Festival event along with downloadable activity ideas in our A-Z section to help make your event the best ever.
