The Coalition Government could decide to increase the state retirement age to 66 for men from 2015 and potentially for women by 2020.

This is on top of the recent decision to phase out the default retirement age of 65 by October 2011.

Longer working lives raises critical questions about the employability of older workers, the role of up-skilling and re-skilling throughout life to maintain employability and whether our present education and training system is able to meet the skills needs of an older workforce.

Tom Wilson, TUC, and Alan Tuckett, NIACE, will join us in a critical assessment of this proposal with Tricia Hartley, Chief Executive of the Campaign for Learning, chairing the event. There will be plenty of time for discussion and questions throughout the seminar.
