NEET young people: the role of the Young People's Learning Agency
Campaign for Learning
19 Buckingham Street
London
WC2N 6EF
30 September 2010
| £99 plus VAT 11am- 1pm Demand for full-time education by 16-18 year olds is surging but still the number not in education, employment and training remains high. More recently, there have been press reports that child benefit paid to parents supporting 16-19 year in full-time further education could be scrapped on top of plans to scale back child tax credits. Parents and students alike could face real financial hardship with the prospect of higher drop out rates and the risk of more 16-18 NEETs. This policy event offers a chance to get to the heart of official thinking on 16-18 tuition funding and financial support policy. Rob Wye, Director of Strategy and Implementation at the YPLA, will lead the discussion focusing on what our sector can realistically offer within a framework of public sector spending cuts and continuing uncertainty.Mark Corney, Policy Adviser to the Campaign, will comment and Tricia Hartley, Chief Executive of the Campaign, will chair. | ||||||||
