The Department for Business, Innovation and Skills published the Banks Review on adult fees for Further Education on 5th July 2010. Following up on the Banks Review the Department also published consultations on 'A Simplified Further Education and Skills Funding System and Methodology' and 'The Future Direction of Skills Policy'. These explore how public funding for adult skills can achieve best value in the context of 25% real term cuts. The closing date for responses is 14 October 2010.

This event will support attendees to form their own response to the consultations. Mick Fletcher, Adult Skills Consultant, will summarise and critically assess both papers. Mark Corney, Policy Advisor to the Campaign for Learning, will consider whether adults and employers can make upfront cash contributions in the context of falling disposable incomes and flat lining coporate profits.
