| Annual Primary Practitioner Conference on Learning to Learn | ||||||||||||||||||||||
| "All the primary schools judged to be outstanding provided effective examples of pupils asking questions, speculating, making connections and reflecting on their learning" Ofsted report, January 2010 At this conference you will gain advice on how to drive your school forward by creating opportunities for your children to develop through a focus on learning, collaboration and creativity. This is your opportunity to develop a flexible primary curriculum, which can enable pupils to make creative links between subjects, learn to be independent and raise levels of achievement throughout your school. The conference will draw on the Campaign for Learning's research project on learning to learn. The many schools that have been involved have discovered the benefits that a focus on learning can bring, including improvements in staff morale, the development of an enquiry based culture and more independent learners that fulfil their potential and add value to the school. You will be able to choose from two of the following workshops run by experts in their field: · Mind the gap: how intergenerational learning to learn can have a dramatic impact on raising achievement, Juliette Collier, Head of Family Learning, Campaign for Learning · Implementing learning to learn in your school, Jackie Beere, OBE · Good to excellent teaching and learning- a creative curriculum that develops independent learning, Jackie Beere, OBE · Playing Out: the importance of breaks for creative minds, happy children and success, Catherine Prisk, Play England Don't miss this opportunity to develop an exciting, engaging curriculum for your children... View the full agenda. By attending the event you will have access to a wide range of resources to use back at school including powerpoint presentations for staff and materials for use with pupils to develop their resilience and independence. You will also be able to buy discounted copies of Jackie Beere's brand new book 'The Primary Learners Toolkit', which is full of examples of cross-curricular projects and lessons to develop emotional intelligence.
