2010 Theme - Creating Connections
This year's theme creating connections highlights the benefits for organisations and employees when links and relationships between people, different types of learning and business areas are encouraged.

Connect people
Action: help people to learn from each other to enhance skills, understanding and knowledge
Activities: skill sharing; job shadowing; understanding each other’s roles; experience exchange between employees; knowledge exchange between organisations, partners and departments; networking online and in person

Connect learning
Action: value and facilitate all types of learning to support a learning culture
Activities: non-work related learning; workplace informal learning; Skills for Life; Six Book Challenge; work-related skills; skills that support home and work life; launch learning allowances; celebrate learning achievements; learning tasters
Benefits: progression from informal to formal learning opportunities; motivated employees; improved skills; increased organisational ability to adapt to changes
Connect Areas
Action: demonstrate the role of learning in supporting team, departmental and organisational aims
Activities: consider business areas such as health and safety e.g. wellbeing classes; stress management; salsa dancing; brushing up on safety procedures; environmental policy e.g. green awareness; pre-loved swap point; green economies competition; marketing and sales e.g. customer care, Skills for Life for improved communication, creativity sessions; master classes led by senior managers; brush up sessions for managers on leading on learning
