Forthcoming books

Understanding Your Learning Audience by Michelle Wake, Campaign for Learning, (Southgate Publishers)

This book looks behind the statistics to explore the learning attitudes of young people, family members and older people. It draws on five years of qualitative research undertaken by the Campaign for Learning with people on low incomes and without level 2 qualifications. For each group it covers barriers to learning, how motivation can be built, persuasive communications and key learning messages. It also includes a section on attitudes of employers and managers to workplace learning.

Marketing Learning in Sports, Leisure and Recreation and Marketing Learning in Arts, Culture and Heritage by Michelle Wake, Campaign for Learning, (Southgate Publishers)

Two new sector specific guides to widening participation in learning. Each guide introduces the key marketing concepts and approaches for a non-specialist audience and includes learning-specific case studies, research and practical applications to show how learning can best be promoted in practice. The book draws on the Campaign's extensive experience of promoting learning in different sectors with a wide range of partners.

Parents First: Parents and Children Learning Together by Garry Burnett and Kay Jarvis, Crown House Publishing

Research shows that support from parents is the single most important driver for pupils' successes at school. We don't know what people may need to learn in the future but if children are motivated and understand how they to learn they will be well-equipped to deal with whatever life holds for them. This book will help parents to support their children in learning how to learn and developing as confident, successful lifelong learners.
